Prince George’s County questions
A little clarity before you begin.
Which Prince George’s County areas can I search here?
Start with Bowie, Upper Marlboro, Hyattsville and Fort Washington. Each area has a direct home-search link on this page. Garland can also help refine a search elsewhere in the county by home type, location and budget.
How do I find out what my Prince George’s County home could sell for?
Request a free home evaluation. Garland will discuss recent comparable sales, current competition, property condition and your timing. The county median is market context, not an estimate for your home.
What should I check besides price before buying?
Review the full payment, property condition, association documents, taxes and any property-specific assessments or deferred utility charges. Ask your lender and settlement professionals to confirm costs for the address.
Community descriptions are starting points for your own research. Verify property jurisdiction, school assignments, transportation options, ownership costs and any restrictions directly with the relevant provider or authority. Search results and listing availability can change.

Community overview
Living in Prince George’s County
Prince George’s County connects the Washington region with a wide range of suburban and more urban housing settings. Its communities vary considerably in density, home age, lot size and access to transportation. A Bowie mailing address, a home near the District line and a property in the southern county can present very different ownership decisions.
Look beyond the county label. Check the property’s actual jurisdiction, nearby services, association rules and routes you expect to use. If you are selling, identify the buyers most likely to compare your home with similar nearby properties rather than relying on a countywide average.
Housing market · September 2026 snapshot
Prince George’s County real estate at a glance.
Source: Redfin’s Prince George’s County housing market report. Checked October 28, 2026. Redfin describes the median price comparison as the three months ending September 2026; the sales count is for September. Market time uses the report’s median-days-on-market metric. All home types; MLS and/or public-record calculations. Figures are a dated snapshot and are not live inventory or a valuation of an individual home.
What this means for your move
Prices were nearly flat compared with a year earlier, while sales activity was lower and market time was longer. This suggests a more deliberate market: buyers should compare alternatives, and sellers should make a strong case on condition, price and terms. This is a county-level interpretation, not a prediction for an individual property.
Find the right ownership fit
Types of homes to compare.
Detached homes
Compare established houses, renovated properties and newer detached homes for lot usability, home systems, layout and future maintenance.
Townhomes & villas
Consider garage and non-garage layouts, outdoor space and association responsibilities. Age-restricted communities may have additional occupancy rules to review.
Condos & new construction
Review condominium finances, recurring fees and lender eligibility. For new builds, compare the complete price, incentives, delivery timing and representation before visiting the builder.
Cities & communities
Search homes by area.
Start with the areas featured in our Maryland guide. Each search opens Garland’s home-search website with the location filter applied.
Prince George’s County · Maryland
Bowie
Compare established residential neighborhoods, townhomes and newer construction. Review association costs, lot features and the total ownership cost for the specific property.
Prince George’s County · Maryland
Upper Marlboro
Explore the town and the broader Upper Marlboro mailing area. Confirm the actual location, jurisdiction, utilities and travel routes for each listing.
Prince George’s County · Maryland
Hyattsville
Compare homes in and around Hyattsville for property type, condition, parking and connections to your regular destinations. Verify municipal boundaries for the address.
Prince George’s County · Maryland
Fort Washington
Explore detached homes, townhomes and condominium options. Compare home condition, lot use and travel routes rather than assuming every property offers the same access.
A town or city name in a mailing address may describe a broader area than an incorporated municipal boundary. Verify the property’s jurisdiction before comparing services, taxes or planning rules. Search results use the listing provider’s area definitions. Prices, property status and availability can change; confirm current details for any home.
For buyers
Buy with a clear plan.
Build a shortlist around your full monthly budget, preferred layout and daily travel. Ask about property taxes, HOA or condominium dues, special assessments and any front-foot or deferred water and sewer charges associated with the address. For older or renovated homes, discuss permits and appropriate inspections.
- Share your budget, must-haves and timing.
- Compare nearby alternatives and the full ownership cost.
- Discuss offer terms, inspections and settlement with your professional team.
For sellers
Sell with local context.
Compete with the homes a buyer would actually tour alongside yours. Review recent nearby sales, pending activity and active listings, then prioritize preparation and photography. Have association information, improvement records and any recurring property charges ready so buyers can evaluate the home with fewer unanswered questions.
- Review comparable sales and current competition.
- Prioritize preparation and a compelling property presentation.
- Connect showing, offer and settlement timing with your next move.
