Northern Virginia questions
A little clarity before you begin.
Which Virginia areas does Garland’s guide focus on?
The starting focus is Northern Virginia: Fairfax County, Prince William County, Arlington County and the City of Alexandria. Ask Garland about your specific location and the communities you want to compare.
Are Fairfax County and the City of Fairfax the same search area?
They are separate jurisdictions. Alexandria is also an independent city, and an Alexandria mailing address does not by itself confirm the jurisdiction. Verify the exact property location when checking taxes, services, schools and search results.
What should I consider when selling a Northern Virginia home?
Compare nearby active listings, pending homes and recent closed sales with similar features and condition. Garland can help develop pricing, preparation and marketing recommendations, then coordinate the sale with your next purchase or relocation.
Community descriptions are starting points for your own research. Verify property jurisdiction, school assignments, transportation options, ownership costs and any restrictions directly with the relevant provider or authority. Search results and listing availability can change.

Community information
Northern Virginia, with your priorities in view.
A Northern Virginia search can span several distinct jurisdictions and many different residential settings. Fairfax County, Prince William County, Arlington County and the City of Alexandria each offer a range of property types, so the useful comparison is often between specific neighborhoods and homes.
An address or postal city does not always tell the whole story. Confirm the property’s jurisdiction and compare taxes, association charges, commuting options and services at the address level.

For buyers
Buying a home in Northern Virginia
Begin with preapproval and your all-in payment target, then compare individual locations and property types. A condo close to transit, an established detached home and a newer townhome can offer different tradeoffs.
Review association costs, parking, maintenance responsibilities and the age and condition of major systems. Verify jurisdiction and school assignments directly, and test the travel routes you expect to use.
For sellers
Selling a home in Northern Virginia
Local competition matters more than a regional headline. Compare properties within the relevant neighborhood, building or home style, and consider condition, improvements and current buyer choices.
We’ll prioritize preparation and presentation, set a market-informed pricing approach and plan marketing and showing availability. If you are also buying, we can coordinate the two transactions around your financing and timing.
